COMPETITORS’ RESPONSIBILITY

The team registration fee does not include hotel accommodation (see below for the Hotel Registration Form) or travel to and from Maine for the 2017 SCI Mountain Challenge. Additionally, each competitor must bring his or her own mandatory gear. Find a complete list of gear and more information here.

PHILANTHROPY CHALLENGE*

In addition to the challenge of climbing several peaks and paddling along a river in two days, we ask participants to raise funds and awareness for the Institute and its mariner support services by challenging each team to raise at least $3,000. The money raised by each team counts towards overall team rankings and awards. SCI provides each team with an individualized webpage to aid in fundraising. Once a team registers for the 2017 SCI Mountain Challenge, SCI creates a standard donation page for each team and its members (each team will then have the option to personalize their page or leave as is). SCI will email competitors with instructions on how to login and personalize their team and individual pages.

* Participation in the Philanthropy Challenge is not mandatory to compete in the 2017 SCI Mountain Challenge. However, overall standings are calculated based on course times AND money raised. We strongly encourage all teams to participate.
